I'll get the actual question that is the point of this post right out in front here; What is the most expensive book you've bought, and how much did it cost? You can respond using the form below, or in the comments if you'd prefer.
And to clarify, I am talking about any single volume of text, regardless of content, with one exception; textbooks are a horrifying racket and are overpriced beyond reason. So no textbooks. Anything else goes. Novels, cook books, manuals, collectors editions of something, whatever. A title and a price is all I'm looking for here. And if you'd like to know why, the answer is mostly because I'm curious. I'm not trying to justify a purchase to anyone.
