To Look Is Not To Throw

The piercing gaze is fabrication, imagery unneeded,
which people grant to discomfiting eyes which have been beaded.

But gaze is not an outward act; to look is not to throw,
and piercing implies hurt from looks, when why you hurt you'll know.

No, if you turn your gaze toward the clearest sky at night,
away from any signs of man and their distracting lights,
your gaze just cannot pierce the depths from which the stars do glow,
but every photon falling down has pierced more than you know.

The gaze is but your window to the world built beyond,
but it's your hands that touch it; reach out and help add on.
